Mission Peach County Public Works, through its highly dedicated employees, provides for the delivery of high quality, cost effective, valuable, safe, services of public infrastructure and facilities to enhance the quality of life in Peach County. This mission is accomplished through the prudent use of resources, technology, innovations, teamwork, and coordination with other departments in the County.
PurposeTo construct, protect, and maintain, within the authority provided by the County Board of Commissioners, the physical structures and facilities that have been determined necessary for public purposes, and to provide services to the public to facilitate the achievement of common social, economic and environmental goals.
Peach County Public Works is made up of four Divisions. These Divisions include Public Roads and Sidewalks, Public Buildings, Stormwater, and Solid Waste (Sanitation). The department is also responsible for managing many Capital Improvement projects throughout the County.
Peach County is comprised of approximately 151 square miles. There are over 230-miles of county roads (200-miles of paved roads, and 30-miles of dirt and gravel roads), five bridges, 500-miles of drainage ways, two closed landfills, and over 286,000 square feet of county building space. The department also maintains records of plans and specifications of County buildings, bridges and roadways, and other pertinent data.
